Resources
On this page, I've listed some of my favorite books, web sites, and local (Utah area) resources for pregnant moms and new families. I hope you find them helpful.
Recommended Reading
I highly recommend that you read at least two or more books on pregnancy and delivery. This way, you will start to see that what some authors portray as fact is truly opinion. Also, as you read contrasting points of view, you can begin to form your own opinions and make decisions about what is important to you. Here are some of my favorites:

Birth and Breastfeeding Solutions Julie Johnson is a wonderful local lactation consultant. I refer anything beyond my expertise to her.
Birth Diaries Beautiful site with many birth stories shown in pictures or video. All are rated on a "graphic" scale, so you will know ahead of time if there is anything in the stories you might find objectional.
DONA International Official web site of the doula organization that certifies me. Great information on what doulas are and do, details on how to become a doula, and doula boutique where you can buy doula-related merchandise.
Lamaze International The childbirth education organization that certifies me. A great resource for parents, and also the organization I would recommend to anyone considering becoming a childbirth educator.
ICEA Web site of the International Childbirth Education Association, which is the group I received my first certification through.
Spinning Babies Great site with information about how moms can help their babies be better positioned for birth.
Kim James The web site of a doula I've only met once - she has fabulous information on epidurals.
La Leche League Web site of the best-known organization supporting breastfeeding. You can access articles on various breastfeeding topics, find a meeting in your area, or join in on online group. To find a group meeting in the Salt Lake Area, you can call (801) 264-LOVE.

Salt Lake City Prenatal Massage Rebecca Overson is a great massage therapist specializing in pregnancy. Highly recommended!
La Leche League - provides free telephone breastfeeding advice through their hotline 801-268-LOVE. Leave a message and someone will call you back to help. Also coordinates regular breastfeeding support meetings at many places around the state. (And no, you don't have to be a radical breastfeeding mama to get help from them.
Salt Lake Area Mothers of Multiples - www.slmot.com Regular activities, a message board, and much more! I've heard nothing but good from moms who have been involved with this group.
Pregnancy Risk Line - a place where you can call with questions about medications, herbs, chemicals, hair dye, or any other substance you have concern about and find out about their safety in pregnancy. If you call and ask "What can I take for a cold?" they can't tell you - but if you call and say "I have X brand cold medicine, is it safe for pregnancy?" they'll answer you. 801-328-BABY.
Julie Johnson - my FAVORITE lactation consultant! www.birthandbreastfeedingsolutions.com.
First Step Program - FREE materials to help moms who wish to quit smoking in pregnancy. Visit http://www.tobaccofreeutah.org/firststep.html for information for other areas.
Transfigure Maternity Services Transfigure was created to support women and couples in the many transitions of womanhood. To that end, they offer a wide variety of childbirth education classes (some that you won't find anywhere else!) and doula services.
